People Absolutely Adore Snapchat — And the Numbers Prove It

Snapchat is one of the hottest social media platforms right now — and it looks like its momentum is unstoppable. Business Insider just reported that “Snapchat users are more engaged than any other social media app.”
Snapchat is “five times more effective than Twitter and 10 times more effective than LinkedIn at getting users to spend time on the platform on a per-user basis,” Business Insider reported. The outlet came to these figures through its BI Intelligence social engagement index, which tracks time spent per user on desktop and mobile.
BI Intelligence also pegged Snapchat’s monthly active user count at approximately 300 million, which makes it just about as large as Twitter.
“Snapchat’s ability to spur great user engagement stems from its function as a media hub and a way to privately communicate with friends,” the article says.
Indeed, Snapchat is an amazing way to get in touch with buddies, especially among the coveted millennial demographic that marketers pursue with a passion (see trend 9 in our wrap-up of Mary Meeker’s Internet Trends report). It’s proven to be the cool app to jump on while the parents are still using Facebook.
Snapchat is definitely on the rise, and if you haven’t thought of marketing on the app yet, it might be time to get the gears turning. TechCrunch, for example, speculates that “Snapchat could be used by over 1 billion daily active users in time.” And the app is ripe for experimentation in video advertising, sporting the monolithic figure of 10 billion videos shared daily.
Here are a few ideas to get started with a Snapchat marketing campaign:
- Check out Snapchat’s new On-Demand Geofilters, a feature that makes advertising on the app a little more accessible to brands that aren’t yet mega-corporations. Pricing starts at $5.
- Consider partnering with Snapchat influencers — a great way to gain access to Snapchat’s highly engaged audience without having to shell out hundreds of thousands of dollars on a campaign. Learn more about how influencers can help grow your brand.
- Focus on great content by finding out what resonates with your Snapchat audience.
